Gatamaiyu Forest Hike: Mud Fun Adventure

Another beautiful and rejuvenating adventure just for you, Gatamaiyu Forest. Gatamaiyu forest is located in Githunguri, Kiambu County. It is part of the larger Kereita Forest.  Gatamaiyu forest is a highland wet forest located east edge of the great Aberdare Ranges Forest.

The forest is packed with beautiful scenery, a thick forest, streams, and waterfalls. The forest is a combination of Indigenous forest, exotic forest, bamboo forest, scrubland, and manmade forest. The larger percentage is the indigenous forest at 85%of the forest.

The forest is also home to wildlife and the largest birdwatching venue. The surroundings of the forest have the right soil and climate for the production of coffee and tea. The weather you will expect here is cold and misty.

The  Gatamaiyu trail winds through the enchanting Gatamaiyu Riverline Trail, nestled beneath a canopy of indigenous forest. Along the way, you will encounter muddy patches and fallen logs, birds adding a touch of adventure to the journey.

The main activities here at Gatamaiyu Forest is waterfalls, birdwatching, and hiking. You will see wildlife such as white and black Columbus, skyke monkeys, bush babies, mangoes, and over 135 species of birds. 

• Group Travel (Public Service Vehicles): Meet at the benches near Bata Shop Hilton, opposite Kencom in Nairobi CBD. The guide will be present at the meet-up point.
